Abstract

[تتباين الآراء فيما يتعلق بتقييم إسهام الطهطاوي في إطار ما دَرَجَ ﺍﻟﻤﺆرخون على تسميته بعصر النهضة بمصر في القرن التاسع عشر . تسلط المقالة الضوء على دور الطهطاوي في خدمة الدولة الحديثة في مصر بوصفه مترجماً . كما ﺗﺴﺘﻌﻴﻦ ببعض مفاهيم دراسات الترجمة لقراءة نصوص ترجمها الطهطاوي للكشف عن أوجه التفاوض ﺍﻟﺘﻲ دارت في ترجمتيه بين خلفيته الأزهرية ودراساته الفرنسية وانتظامه في خدمة الدولة التي ﺗﻄﻠﱠﻊ محمد علي إلى بنائها . تحلل المقالة المتلقي النموذجي الذي استهدفه الطهطاوي بترجماته ، ﻣﺘﻤﺜﻼً في جيل من المتعلمين يجمع بين الموروث الإسلامي ﺍﻟﻤﺤﺎﻓﻆ جنباً إلى جنب مع بعض توجهات الحداثة . Tahtawi's cultural contribution to a modern state, initiated by Muhammad Ali, is problematic. Research on Tahatwi's translation efforts benefitted from postcolonial and poststructuralist approaches, revealing his ambivalent attitude towards modernity and constant negotiations with all parties involved in transforming Egypt into a modern nation-state, while still maintaining political and religious authority unquestioned. Tahtawi's Azharite education, his French experience, and his role as a government bureaucrat created a conflicting situation that influenced his translations. Texts translated by Tahtawi are investigated to probe his translation policies exercised on a fast-evolving Egyptian scene.]
