Abstract

[This essay examines the child/adult audience's reception of the art of puppetry. It focuses on this art's oscillation between two levels of vision. First, child-like vision allows the audience to identify, and interact with, the character the puppet performs. Second, critical vision surfaces in the audience's momentary awareness reminding them that is seen is merely a piece of wood. Thus, they judge the puppeteer's mastery or his failure to produce a convincing performance. The author uses examples from his own experience with karagoz performances in Egyptian villages and the child audience's reception of, and interaction with, these shows. ﺗﺘﻨﺎﻭﻝ ﻫﺬﻩ ﺍﻟﻤﻘﺎﻟﺔ ﺍﺳﺘﻘﺒﺎﻝ ﺍﻟﻤﺸﺎﻫﺪ - ﺳﻮﺍﺀ ﺍﻟﻄﻔﻞ ﺃﻭ ﺍﻟﺒﺎﻟﻎ - ﻟﻔﻦ ﺍﻟﻌﺮﺍﺋﺲ ﻭﺗﺮﻛّﺰ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺗﻨﻘﻠﻪ ﺑﻴﻦ ﻣﺴﺘﻮﻯ ﺍﻟﺮﺅﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﻄﻔﻮﻟﻴﺔ - ﻭﺍﻟﺘﻲ ﺗﺘﻴﺢ ﻟﻪ ﺍﻻﻧﺪﻣﺎﺝ ﻭﺍﻻﻧﻔﻌﺎﻝ ﺑﺎﻟﺸﺨﺼﻴﺔ ﺍﻟﺘﻲ ﺗﺆﺩﻳﻬﺎ ﺍﻟﻌﺮﻭﺳﺔ - ﻭﻣﺴﺘﻮﻯ ﺍﻟﺮﺅﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﻨﻘﺪﻳﺔ - ﻣﺘﻤﺜﻠﺔ ﻓﻲ ﺗﺬﻛﺮﻩ ﻟﻠﺤﻈﺎﺕ ﺑﺄﻥ ﻣﺎ ﻳﺮﺍﻩ ﻫﻮ ﻗﻄﻌﺔ ﺧﺸﺐ، ﺃﻭ ﺍﻹﻗﺮﺍﺭ ﺑﻤﻬﺎﺭﺓ ﺍﻟﻼﻋﺐ ﺃﻭ ﺇﺧﻔﺎﻗﻪ ﻓﻲ ﺇﻗﻨﺎﻋﻪ ﻟﻠﺤﻈﺎﺕ ﺳﺎﺑﻘﺔ ﺑﺎﻟﺸﺨﺼﻴﺔ ٠ﻛﻤﺎ ﺗﺘﻨﺎﻭﻝ ﺍﻟﺪﻭﺭ ﺍﻟﻤﻤﻴﺰ ﻟﻬﺬﺍ ﺍﻟﻔﻦ ﻓﻲ ﺗﺸﻜﻴﻞ ﺍﻟﺒﻨﺎﺀ ﺍﻟﻨﻔﺴﻲ ﻟﻠﻄﻔﻞ ﻓﻲ ﻣﺮﺣﻠﺔ ﺍﻟﺘﻜﻮﻳﻦ٠ ﻭﻳﺪﻟﻞ ﺍﻟﻤﺆﻟﻒ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺫﻟﻚ ﻣﻦ ﺧﻼﻝ ﺗﺠﺎﺭﺑﻪ ﻓﻲ ﻋﺮﻭﺽ ﺍﻷﺭﺍﺟﻮﺯ ﺑﺒﻌﺾ ﻗﺮﻯ ﻣﺼﺮ ﻭﺍﺳﺘﻘﺒﺎﻝ ﺍﻟﻤﺸﺎﻫﺪ ﺍﻟﻄﻔﻞ ﻟﻬﺎ ﻭﺗﻔﺎﻋﻠﻪ ﻣﻌﻬﺎ٠]
