Abstract

[In "Ruju' al-Shaykh" (The Return of the Sheik) by Egyptian writer 'Abd al-Hakim Qasim, several stylistic modes intersect: erotic treatise, religious journey, and biographical account. The complex style alludes to the Islamic narrative of the night journey and ascension. The narrator presents a fresh vision and a new poetics of the flesh while delineating gender relations-erotic, emotional, and intellectual-and exploring social relations in modern culture as well as in Arab history (profane and sacred). The narrative points, though perhaps unintentionally, to the dialectical relation between religious and literary texts while offering a creative and liberating project. Thus instead of the contrived confrontation between the holy and the poetic as encountered today both in secularist and clerical circles, the text offers a reconciliation in its very fabric. /في قصة رجوع الشيخ لعبد الحكيم قاسم تتقاطع ﺗﻘﺎﻟﻴﺪ أسلوبية عديدة: أسلوب كتب ((الباه))، ﺃﺳﻠﻮﺏ ﺍﻟﺮﺣﻠﺔ الدينية، أسلوب القصة ﺍﻟﻐﺮﺍﺋﺒﻴﺔ، ﺍﻷﺳﻠﻮﺏ الغزلي وأسلوب السيرة٠ إلا أن هذه ﺍﻷﺳﺎﻟﻴﺐ ﺍﻟﻤﺨﺘﻠﻔﺔ تتراكب في مسار ﺭﺋﻴﺴﻲ يحيل إلى مسار قصص ((الإسراء والمعراج)) الذي يستبطنه الراوي ليؤسس لرؤية جديدة للجسد، ومن خلاله لنظرة طريفة ﻟﻺﻧﺴﺎﻥ - رجلاﹰ أو امرأﺓ ـ في علاقته مع ﻵخر، جنسياﹰ وعاطفياﹰ وفكرياﹰ، ومع المجتمع والحضارة الحديثة وكذلك مع التاريخ العربي في شقيه المدني والديني٠ فيؤكد هذا النص، ربما من حيث لا يشاء، على العلاقة الجدلية العميقة بين النص الديني والنص الأدبي ليوظفها في مشروع تحرري خلاق يتجاوز الخلافات المصطنعة العقيمة التي ﻳﺴﻌﻰ البعض لفرضها على كلا النصين في عصر التقهقر الحضاري الذي نشهده٠]
