Abstract
In this paper, an ultra-wide band conformal antenna with high gain is presented. The antenna structure is inspired from the crescent shape formed by a non-concentric outer circular aperture and an inner circular patch, where the patch is vertically offset by a specific distance. A horizontal slot is etched along the diameter of the inner circular patch to enhance the impedance matching of the antenna. A flexible Rogers substrate is used in the fabrication process. The measured results reveal wide-bandwidth operation from 2.63 to 9.43Â GHz, which corresponds to a fractional bandwidth as high as 112.8%. The gain of the proposed antenna ranges from 4.5Â dBi to 8.57Â dBi. The proposed crescent antenna can connect different IoT devices to various networks due to its support for multiple bands, including the MB-OFDM band, the 5.8Â GHz Wi-Fi band, and the DS-UWB band, making it flexible and effective for smart home automation.
