Abstract
The relations at present between philosophy and the sciences are not especially good. Let's begin with Stephen Hawking's famous words at the May 2011 Google Zeitgeist conference in England:1 [...] Almost all of us must sometimes wonder: Why are we here? Where do we come from? Traditionally, these are questions for philosophy, but philosophy is dead. Philosophers have not kept up with modern developments in science. Particularly physics. Scientists have become the bearers of the torch of discovery in our quest for knowledge.2.
