Abstract
Highlights In this review article, we have introduced the most important techniques for water diagnosis and pollutants identification. We focused on optical sensing devices, specifically those related to photonics, as well as electrochemical ones. The research specifically focused on how to use these two categories in each of the heavy metals, pathogenic, and organic dyes compounds detection in water.
