Abstract

[.تحلل المقالة روايتي واحة الغروب لبهاء طاهر وتغريدة البجعة لمكاوي سعيد من زاوية أوجه التراسل المتعددة بين العملين، وبخاصة علاقة الشرق بالغرب في كل منهما. تركز المقالة على الحوار بين العملين فيما يتصل بفكرة الاستعمار بأشكاله المختلفة - الاستعمار البريطاني القديم في واحة الغروب، والهيمنة الأمريكية المعاصرة في تغريدة البجعة - كما تتجلى في العلاقات بين الشخصيات في كلتا الروايتين. وتعُد المقالة الاستعمار المصري للنوبة وجهاً من وجوه القمع الاستعماري انفرد بهاء طاهر بالكشف عنه، على حين انفرد مكاوي سعيد بتناول الغزو الديني الوهابي القادم من الخليج العربي إلى مصر، الذي «احتل» الوعي الديني العام بترسيخه التدين الشكلي ﺍﻟﻤﺘﻌﺼﺐ This article analyzes different forms of intertextuality between Bahaa Taher’s Sunset Oasis and Mekkawi Said’s Cairo Swan Song, especially the relationship between East and West in both novels. The article puts the two novels in a dialogic relationship, highlighting two different types of colonialism: old British colonialism as depicted in Sunset Oasis and contemporary US hegemony as shown in Cairo Swan Song. It also analyzes other forms of colonialism portrayed in the novels, such as the Egyptian exploitation of Nubians in Bahaa Taher’s novel and the influence of Wahhabi religious extremism on Egyptian society in Mekkawi Said’s novel, another form of “colonizing” Egyptian society imported from the Gulf region.]
