Abstract

[تستعرض هذه المقالة تنويعات ﻧﺼّﻴّﺔ عدّة على خبر واحد يُروَى في مصادر إسلاميّة مختلفة . يُقدّم الخبر ترجمات حرفيّة محدّدة بصيغة سرديّة واحدة تبدأ بمرور ﺍﻟﻨﺒﻲﹼ (أو الوليّ أو الإمام) بحيوان ما قبل أن يسأل مراﻓﻘﻴﻪ ((أتدرﻭﻥ ما يقول؟)) ثمّ ((يُترجم)) قوله . تكشف المقالة كيف ﺗُﻨﺘَﺞ في كلّ مرة تُستعاد فيها الصيغة السرديَّة المذكورة ترجمة جديدة تُنسَب إلى هذا الطائر أو ذاك الجمل . وتُظﻬِر ﺃﻳﻀﺎً أن الترجمات كانت على ما يبدو ﻣﻄﻴّﺔ مناسبة استعملها المصنّفونَ ﻷغراض شتّى كالتفسير والوعظ والقصّ وسوى ذلك إذ أجروها على لسان شخصيّات ذات مكانة في القصّة الدينيّة أوّلها سليمان وليس آخرها عليّ بن أيي طالب . This article explores different versions of one report (khabar) narrated in various Islamic sources. The report offers specific translations in the guise of one narrative formula that begins with a prophet (or waliyy or imām) passing by an animal before he asks his companions: "Do you know what it is saying?" and then he "translates" its speech. The article shows how a new translation is produced every time the same narrative formula is retrieved. It argues that these translations were seemingly a textual tool exploited by the authors in exegesis, storytelling, preaching, and other contexts.]
