Abstract

[This article offers a textual reading of youth culture in Iran and asks what insights literary analysis can provide to complement existing anthropological works on the subject. It examines a series of recent Persian novels, all published by Cheshmeh Publishers, including Sina Dadkhah's Yusef ābād, khiyābān-e si-o-sevom (Yusef Abad, 33rd Street; 2009), Mahsa Mohebb'ali's Negarān nabāsh (Don't Worry; 2009), and Mohammad Hassan Shahsavari's Shab-e momken (Possible Night; 2010). The article argues that these literary representations chart a new sociocultural topography in Tehran, one that depends on the city's verticality, which in turn allows us to imagine young people's economic, material, and sexual desires. تقدم هذه المقالة قراءة نصية للثقافة الشبابية في إيران، مستكشفة دورالتحليل الأدبي في تعزيزالدراسات الأنثروبولوجية القائمة حول هذا الموضوع. تحلل المقالة مجموعة من الروايات الإيرانية الحديثة المنشورة جميعاً من قبل دار نشر چشمه كروايات يوسف عباد، شارع ٣٣ (٠٠٩ ٢) ولا تقلق (٢٠٠٩) وليلة محتملة (٠١٠ ٢). تطرح المقالة رؤية مغزاها أن تلك التمثلات الأدبية ترسم طوبوغرافيا ثقافية اجتماعية جديدة في طهران تعتمد على البنية العمودية للمدينة التي تمكننا ﺑﺩﺭﻭﻫﺎ من استنباط رغبات الشباب الاقتصادية والمادية والجنسية .]
