Abstract

[This article poses urgent questions about the relationship between postcolonial Arabic literature and World Literature, exposing the presuppositions of this relationship. The author argues that heated ideological conflicts exist between the understanding of literature as a phenomenon emerging from interaction and a universal human faculty irrespective of race, class, gender, or religion, versus the Orientalist bias of hegemonic critical thought in the era of postnationalist capitalism. The fundamental questions that arise are: How could one transcend the canonical hierarchies in "World Literature"? Consequently, how could one resolve the persistent tensions between Self and Other in a postcolonial literary era? تطرح هذه المقالة تساؤلات عن علاقة الأدب العربي ما بعد الاستعمار بأدب العالم. تركّز المقالة على الصراعات الإيديولوجية بين تعريف الأدب بوصفه ظاهرة ينتجها تفاعل إنساني مع اللغة وملكة إنسانية يشترك فيها البشرمن جهة، وبين مراكزالسلطة النقدية في « العالم الأول » التي تسربت إلي نظرياتها الأدبية معطيات قومية وتداخلات سياسية - رأسمالية من جهة أخرى. وتطرح المقالة أسئلة أساسية هي: كيف يمكن التوفيق بين تلك المتناقضات الجوهرية في أدب العالم؟ وكيف يمكن اجتياز، بل والتجاوزعن، هرمية العلاقة الأدبية بين « الأنا » و« الآخر » في عصر ما بعد الاستعمار؟]
