Abstract

[تبين المقالة تأثير المركزية الأوروبية في أفلام هوليوود التي تتناول ثقافات العالم الثالث أو الشعوب المستَعمَرة حيث إن تلك الأفلام لعبت دوماً دوراً محورياً في التأكيد على الخصائص الرئيسية للمركزية الأوروبية التي تتمثل أساساً في تقويض الهويات الجنسية والعرقية والثقافية للشعوب المستعمَرَة، إضافة إلى التلاعب - الذي يمارسه الرجل الغربي- بالدور الذي تلعبه المرأة البيضاء في السياق الاستعماري. وبهذا، تعطي هذه الأفلام شرعية أكبر للتصورات السائدة لدى الغرب عن الهمجية المتأصلة لدى الشعوب المستعمَرة واحتياجها لتحضر الرجل الغربي. كما تمنح صحاري لشرق فضاءً يمكن فيه البوح بالرغبات الجنسية ﺍﻟﻤﻜﺒﻮﺗﺔ . This article demonstrates the influence that Eurocentrism has had on Hollywood movies that depict Third World cultures. According to the authors, these films have always played a pivotal role in accentuating the main features of Eurocentrism: an undermining of the identities – racial, sexual, and cultural – of the colonized peoples and a manipulation – by the Western male – of the role played by the White female in a colonial context. These movies thus legitimize the widely held Western perception of colonized peoples as essentially barbaric and in need of civilizing missions. Furthermore, the deserts of the East provide a setting where repressed sexual desires are articulated.]
