Abstract

[تتناول هذه المقالة ظاهرة الحداثة الأدبية في الجزيرة العربية ابتداءً من سبعينيات القرن العشرين من حيث هي تعبير عن مواجهة للمدنية المعاصرة من خلال رموز البيئة الصحراوية. ففي أعمال شعرية وسردية من عدد من جهات الجزيرة وبيئاتها الأدبية، يتضح أن الصحراء، بمكوناتها الإنسانية والطبيعية، تشكل حضوراً بارزاً تستدعيه الأعمال الأدبية لتؤكد من خلاله حداثة تنغرس في المحلية بينما هي توظف تقنيات شكلية وصياغية قادمة من قلب الحداثة الغربية المعاصرة. وبذلك يتضح أن «حداثة الصحراء» تنطوي على مفارقة ليست غریبة على تاریخ الأدب، كما نلاحظ في الرومانسية الأوروبية التي واجهت مستجدات الحضارة الصناعية من خلال البيئة الطبيعية التي أمدتها بالأخيلة واللغة . This article examines literary modernity in the Arabian Peninsula beginning with the 1970s. At the heart of that movement, be it in poetry or in fiction, there lies a relentless effort to counter modern civilization with imagery and expressions derived from the desert environment of the Peninsula, thus creating a paradoxical situation where one form of modernity is countered by another. The situation is reminiscent of what prevailed during the European Romantic period where industrialization was resisted by a literature couched in natural language and imagery.]
