Abstract

[تتناول هذه المقالة العلاقة بين الطالب وأستاذ الجامعة في ثلاثة أعمال أدبية أمريكية نشرت في القرن العشرين: فهرنهاية ٤٥١ لريي برادبري (۱۹٥۳)، والعودة ٳلى التراب لجورج بامبر (۱۹٥۹)، ومطاردة الورق لجون جي أوزبرن (۱۹۷۰). وتحاول المقالة الربط بين الشكل الذي تتخذه هذه العلاقة المحورية في كل من الأعمال الثلاثة وفكرة تدهور الحضارة الغربية التي تعد موضوعاً أساسياً في النصوص موضع الدراسة، حيث يقدم كل منها نقداً للحياة الغربية المعاصرة ولنظرة الٳنسان في سياقها، وتصوراً خاصاً لفكرة الاضمحلال وﺗﻨﺒﺆاً بانهيار الحضارة الغربية في غياب الحرية والمعرفة . This article deals with the professor-student relationship in three American literary works published in the twentieth century: "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury (1953), "Return to Dust" by George Bamber (1959), and "The Paper Chase" by Jay Osborn (1970). The article relates the nature of this relationship to the concept of the decline of Western civilization, a major theme in all three texts. Each of these works presents a critique of contemporary Western civilization and the individual's position within it, at the same time that it anticipates its decline and apocalypse in the absence of healthy institutional relationships based on knowledge and freedom.]
