Abstract

[In this essay, the author presents the book Nubia: Sketches, Notes and Photographs by the late Swiss artist Margo Veillon. Veillon, who spent all her life in Egypt, traveled extensively to Nubia over more than forty years, before its submersion by Lake Nasser. From these voyages sprang a myriad of valuable works: paintings, sketches, photographs, and commentaries. The author analyzes the works in this book, comparing photographs, sketches, and aquarelles to decipher the iconology of Veillon, that evolved from expressionism to impressionism to abstraction, and to show how the captured the spirit of Nubia. ﺗﻘﺪﻡ ﻛﺎﺗﺒﺔ ﻫﺬﻩ ﺍﻟﻤﻘﺎﻟﺔ ﻋﺮﺿﺎﹰ ﻟﻜﺘﺎﺏ ﻟﻠﻔﻨﺎﻧﺔ ﺍﻟﺴﻮﻳﺴﺮﻳﺔ ﺍﻟﺮﺍﺣﻠﺔ ﻣﺎﺭﺟﻮﭬﻴﻴﻮﻥ٬ ﺍﻟﺘﻲ ﺗﻜﺮﺭﺕ ﺳﻔﺮﺍﺗﻬﺎ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺍﻟﻨﻮﺑﺔ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻣﺪﻯ ﺃﻛﺜﺮ ﻣﻦ ﺃﺭﺑﻌﻴﻦ ﻋﺎﻣﺎ٬ ﻭﺗﺮﻛﺖ ﻓﻴﻬﺎ ﺃﺛﺮﺍﹰ ﻗﻮﻳﺎﹰ ﺧَﻠﱠﻒَ ﺗﺮﺍﺛﺎﹰ ﻏﻨﻴﺎﹰ ﻣﻦ ﺍﻟﻠﻮﺣﺎﺕ٬ ﻭﺍﻟﺼﻮﺭ ﺍﻟﻔﻮﺗﻮﻏﺮﺍﻓﻴﺔ٬ ﻭﺍﻟﻨﺼﻮﺹ ﺍﻟﺘﻔﺴﻴﺮﻳﺔ٠ ﻭﺗﺤﻠﻞ ﺍﻟﻤﻘﺎﻟﺔ ﺃﻋﻤﺎﻝ ﭬﻴﻴﻮﻥ ﺍﻟﻤﻨﺸﻮﺭﺓ ﻓﻲ ﻫﺬﺍ ﺍﻟﻜﺘﺎﺏ٬ ﻣﻦ ﺻﻮﺭ ﻓﻮﺗﻮﻏﺮﺍﻓﻴﺔ ﻭﺍﺳﻜﺘﺸﺎﺕ٬ ﻣﻘﺎﺭﻧﺔﹰ ﺑﻴﻦ ﺍﻟﺼﻮﺭ ﺍﻟﻔﻮﺗﻮﻏﺮﺍﻓﻴﺔ ﻭﺍﻟﻠﻮﺣﺎﺕ ﺍﻟﻤﻘﺎﺑﻠﺔ٬ ﻟﺘﺒﻴﻦ ﻛﻴﻒ ﺗﺤﻮﺭ ﭬﻴﻴﻮﻥ ﺍﻟﺼﻮﺭ " ﺍﻟﻮﺍﻗﻌﻴﺔ " ﻣﻦ ﺧﻼﻝ ﺃﺩﻭﺍﺗﻬﺎ٬ ﺳﻮﺍﺀ ﺍﻟﻤﻌﻤﺎﺭ ﺃﻭ ﺍﻟﻤﻨﺎﻇﺮ ﺍﻟﻄﺒﻴﻌﻴﺔ٬ ﺍﻷﻧﺸﻄﺔ ﺍﻟﻴﻮﻣﻴﺔ ﺃﻭ ﺍﻟﭙﻮﺭﺗﺮﻳﻬﺎﺕ: ﺗﺪﺭﺟﺎﹰ ﻣﻦ ﺍﻟﺘﻌﺒﻴﺮﻱ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺍﻟﺘﺄﺛﻴﺮﻱ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺍﻟﺘﺠﺮﻳﺪﻱ٠]
