Abstract

once took a microbus in Cairo and I couldn’t use it properly and discovered that each mean of public transportation in Cairo has its own culture that no one knows except its users. For that reason I decided to create “Teeet”; a Mobile Application that works as a Survival - Cultural Guide for public transportation in Cairo. It exposes tourists and Egyptians to public transportation’s cultures and it simplifies the ride itself by giving the users organized steps to follow. All Cairo’s public transportations are added to the application such as microbus, taxi, public bus, metro, toktok, train and Nile bus. The app is available in two languages, Arabic and English. I started with the microbus and provided all information needed for any journey. The apps starts with an introductory page with all means of transportation, then a description page for the microbus, the steps of any journey - including the stops and average fare - how to stop a microbus, and the hand signs for each route animated to teach the user the movement. Adding to that the choice of seats illustrated with emojis and description for each seat. Final step is how to get out of a microbus. Then, the second section is tips needed for any ride. Finally, the third section takes a closer look to the microbus culture, including a dictionary with all words and phrases that can be heard in a microbus then a music playlist for the type of music expected to be heard on a microbus
