Abstract

My Ballet Journey is a ballet companion kit to help support young ballerinas between the ages of 8 and 11 throughout their ballet year to encourage them to continue ballet. The kit is inspired from the dance creative process which is explore, inspire and express. This process is reflected in two main elements in the kit: a journal and a charm bracelet. The journal includes educational elements and challenging tasks to help the ballerinas progress further in ballet. The charm bracelet is meant as a reward system to inspire the girls and give them an incentive. The charms are earned based on specific achievements the girls complete in ballet.

This project is part of “ Holy Shift- Fifth Graduating Class of Graphic Design Students-The American University in Cairo – Class Fall 2019” catalog. "Holy Shift" is the title of the Fifth Senior Students Exhibition. It included 30 graduation projects that are broadly divided into four themes: Designing for Cultural and Social Impact Projects presented under this category offer creative tools to critically address social problems. The second theme is; Reimagining Cultural Heritage.
