Sports Summit: KIBO
Student Status
Undergraduate
Abstract
The three main problems that Egyptian athletes face today are: the lack of support; whether mentally or financially, the absence of female role models and social stigma; that women who practice sport should have a specific physical appearance. Sports is an important tool for social empowerment. Females are mostly concerned because they need to have a strong position in their country. How would they do that through sports if no one encourages them to do so? Kibo aims to resolve these problems. It is a platform that aims to empower women by presenting athletic female heroes who will encourage others to consider sports by supporting them mentally, breaking the social stigma and present themselves as role models. There is a brand manual for KIBO and an empowering video featuring the athlete Nouran Gohar.
