About EHUB Podcast

Under the framework of the Egyptian Migration Hub (EHUB) project the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) at the American University in Cairo is hosting with the support of the European Union Delegation in Egypt a series of episodes with the aim of enhancing the knowledge on and raising awareness of key migration issues.

Officially launched in June 2022, EHUB aims at bringing together academics, practitioners, and government officials to discuss important topics of migration governance in Egypt. The ultimate goal is to support these actors in the governance process and support the exchange of experiences and information through policy dialogues and outreach.

In this episode hosted by Shaimaa Gheith, EHUB Media and Communications Officer, our guest Mr. Amr Abdel Hakim, Legal expert on refugee issues and CEO of a medical supplies company takes us through his own journey of establishing an alternative business model that paved the way for refugees to work and build new lives in Egypt. Through the episode he explains how this experience worked on social and legal levels.
