Abstract

[تتأثر علاقات الإنسان بمن حوله عند إصابته بمرض عضال، مما يضع تكوينات جوهرية قيد السؤال، مثل هوية الشخص وأدواره الاجتماعية وعلاقته بجسده. ﺗﻜﺸﻒ السير الذاتية التي تتناول المرض ثلاثة أنواع من الصداقة خلال المرض: أصدقاء ﺍﻟﻤﺮﻳﺾ الفعليين وتأثيرهم في حالته، والصداقات الجديدة التي ﺗﻮﻟﱢﺪ ﺗﻀﺎﻣﻨﺎً بين المرضى المقيمين بالمستشفيات، والصداقات التي تنشأ بين بعض المرضى وأطبائهم. تتناول المقالة التعقيدات التي تنطوي عليها الصداقات المختلفة خلال المرض كما يطرحها مجموعة من الأدباء في سيرهم الذاتية، مما يثير قضايا ينبغي التباحث حولها في مجال أخلاقيات الطب ومفهوم ﺍﻟﺼﺪﺍﻗﺔ . The onset of a major illness can radically change the network of relationships a person has. Identities, social roles, and connection to one's body are questioned. Illness narratives often reveal the interplay of three sets of friendships: existing friends and their impact on the ill person's wellbeing; friendships formed between hospital residents out of solidarity; and friendships developing between doctors and patients. Each of these is associated with shades of conflict, questioning the meaning of friendship and raising concerns for bio-medical ethics. This article explores the intricacies of friendship during illness through the analysis of a range of Arabic memoirs where illness is a major theme.]
