Abstract
In this essay I will discuss collaborative translation based on my experience working with John Verlenden in translating poetry and fiction from Arabic into English. I have found that collaborative translations provide an opportunity for two translators to complement and support each other through this often challenging process. To say this is not to diminish the importance of solo translations, but rather to offer an alternative mode, particularly when addressing what I have called the "untranslatable."
