Description or Abstract

Most scientists donʼt have the training or experience they need to communicate about their work beyond their peers, yet we must effectively convey the importance of our work to diverse groups. This webinar will introduce scientists to some tools that will help them make their communication more effective. The training begins with a brief overview of communications principles – things that we all take for granted but are worth reviewing. It then introduces the Message Box and the idea of tailoring your message for your audience. The training culminates with participants preparing and sharing a short "elevator speech" (a clear, brief message) about their work. Suggested Audience: Professors, Researchers, Graduate Students.
