Abstract

[Monsieur Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Qur'an centers on the friendship between a sage-like Muslim and a Jewish teenager. While Ibrahim illuminates Momo on matters of life, love, and loss, the whole play stands as a trope for religious tolerance and friendship across boundaries. Since Sufi understanding of Islam underlies this unique example of cross-cultural friendship, the present article investigates the extent to which a hermeneutic reading of religion through the spiritual lens of Sufism can contribute to cultivating interreligious friendship in a world ravaged by violence and sectarian strife. تقدم هذه المقالة قراءة من منظور النقد الثقافي لمسرحية مسيو إبراهيم وزهور القرآن للكاتب الفرنسي إريك-إيمانويل شميت. تُصور المسرحية نموذجاً فريداً لعلاقة صداقة غير تقليدية - بين كهل تركي مسلم وشاب فرنسي يهودي - تتخطى حواجز الاختلافات بين البشر، ولا سيما الاختلاف في الدين. وحيث إن الفهم الصوفي للإسلام والمنظور الروحاني للدين هو حجر الزاوية الذي ترتكز عليه هذه الصداقة، تلقي المقالة الضوء على القيم الصوفية التي تؤسس قبول الآخر؛ بغية استقصاء إلى أي مدى يمكن للقراءة التأويلية للنص الديني من خلال عدسة الصوفية أن تسهم في تعزيز قيمة الصداقة بين الأديان في عالم يغلب عليه التعصب والطائفية ويهدده العنف باسم الدين .]
