Abstract

[ركزت هذه القراءة في روايتي كمال ﺭُحيّم على النظر في بعض المظاهر الشكلية والمضمونية من أجل محاولة استخلاص الٳيديولوجيا الكامنة ﺍﻟﺘﻲ وجّهت السرد. ويمكن تلخيص هذه ﺍﻟﺮﺅﻳﺔ في أن الدين، رغم أهميته، ليس ٳلا أحد ﻣﻜﻮّﻧﺎﺕ الثقافة بمعناها الأنثروبولوجي، أي من حيث هي لغة حية وممارسات وطقوس يومية، ﺗﻜﻮّﻥ باجتماعها معاً الهوية الخاصة لأفراد المجتمع. وقد كانت فجيعة الغربة، التي عانى منها بعض المصريين اليهود ـ من شخصيات الرواية ـ الذين هاجروا ٳلى فرنسا، راجعة ٳلى حنينهم ٳلى هويتهم الثقافية حين اضطروا ٳلى مغادرة الوطن الذي أكسبهم تلك الهوية. وقد انتهى تحليل الروايتين ٳلى أن الدعوة ٳلى فكرة المواطنة وجّهت كثيراً من تفاصيل السرد، مع ما تتضمنه تلك الفكرة من رفض التمييز بين المواطنين على أساس عنصري ديني . This article examines Kamal Ruhayyam's novels from a formalistic and thematic point of view, in an attempt to explore the underlying ideology behind the narrative. The author reaches the conclusion that religion, despite its significance, is but one component of culture as anthropologically defined—a living language and daily practices and rituals that collectively shape a certain society's individual identity. The trauma of estrangement suffered by the Jewish Egyptian protagonists of the novels in France is derived from their sense of nostalgia for Egypt as their cultural identity is strongly linked with the country which they had to leave. The article examines in detail the dilemma of a hybrid identity where the national and cultural affiliations manifest themselves, overpowering narrow religiosity.]
