The Photographic Gallery in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication hosted an exhibition of contemporary photography, Bright Lights, Big Shadows, curated by Dr. Henry Woo. The exhibition features a selection of photography works by seven young and emerging Egyptian artists and reflects the contemporary pulse and mood of a young generation in Egypt. This selection of diverse subjects works looks at urban neurosis, alienation and longing for the tranquility that question privacy, freedom and conformity to gender roles. The visual projects respond to societal tensions to depict a subjective take on the collective consciousness of Cairenes today.
