AUC centennial coin: pocket-sized 100 years

Mayar Zarie, The American University in Cairo

Description or Abstract

In commemorating 100 years of the American University in Cairo, five AUC students majoring in Graphic Design, with the help of two professors, take on a noteworthy project, the AUC Centennial Coin, with sensational outcomes. This audio feature is a documentation of the lengthy, but lush, process the students, together with the professors responsible for the project, went through. Graphic Design Professor Nagla Samir, one of the two mentors responsible for supervising the students throughout the process, along with Graphic Design Students Lana El Kurdi and Ahmad Khalil walk us through the process from beginning to end. This audio feature also looks at how the approval given by the Egyptian government to AUC to manufacture its very own unique coin, let alone minting it, means something of worth.
