Living with Yara

Yara Deghidy, The American University in Cairo

Description or Abstract

I'm a senior student at the American University in Cairo (AUC) majoring in Communication and Media Arts, the school of Journalism and Mass Communication (JRMC). This is an audio diary done for the Audio Production course taught at AUC in the JRMC department by professor Kim Fox and teaching assistant Hanady Omran. The audio aims to document 2 days from my life using my own narration incorporating nat sounds that are recorded by a Samsung S8+. It is edited using Adobe Audition. The songs that were played in the audio were by Amr Diab. The project was initiated by Kim Fox in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JRMC) along with Hoda Mostafa, Maha Bali and Nadine Aboulmagd, all from the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT). The bulk of the content that was created for the #AUCdiaries podcasts was completed by students as part of AUC courses. As such, this is both a digital pedagogy project, since students learn while producing, and a digital scholarship project, since the output is considered to be digital scholarship.
