Habiba Hussein, The American University in Cairo

Description or Abstract

This is an audio documentary about The Miss AUC competition. One of the many traditions of the American University in Cairo, the Miss AUC competition was held each year, where one girl from the graduating class was voted best all-round student by fellow classmates. The competition was a significant part of the AUC community, and in celebrating AUC’s centennial anniversary, the piece reminisces the closeness of the AUC community back then, and the diversity of AUC today. The Miss AUC competition took place at AUC in the 1960s, all the way to the 1980s. The competition was a campus tradition that brought the community together.
