In the Netherlands (population 17 million) there are now 1 million Muslim migrants and their descendants. In the lecture, Dr Ruud will first talk about the constitutional and institutional frameworks relevant to religions. In the second part, he will discuss the factors that have created resistance against the acceptance Islam in the Netherlands and the emergence of Islamophobia.
