About EHUB Podcast

Under the framework of the Egyptian Migration Hub (EHUB) project the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) at the American University in Cairo is hosting with the support of the European Union Delegation in Egypt a series of episodes with the aim of enhancing the knowledge on and raising awareness of key migration issues.

Officially launched in June 2022, EHUB aims at bringing together academics, practitioners, and government officials to discuss important topics of migration governance in Egypt. The ultimate goal is to support these actors in the governance process and support the exchange of experiences and information through policy dialogues and outreach.

Episode 1: History of Migration to and From Egypt

In this episode hosted by Dr. Sara Sadek, EHUB Technical Advisor and Adjunct Professor at CMRS, our guest, Dr. Ayman Zohry, Demographer and Expert introduces the audience to the basic terminologies and information on migration.He tackles the key debates and discussions, as well as delves into the history of Egyptian migration, the main countries of destination, and the volumes over the past 30-40 years.
